ISABELLE

Isabelle is a mother, wife and one of the few traders in her field. She is an extremely likeable Swiss woman who did not play by the old rules. After her training as a commercial worker, she worked for 1 ½ years in her field to gather professional experience before she went on to become a stewardess for Balair. But she couldn’t happily do this demanding job for more than 18 months and according to her own statement, after this experience she temporarily became a “people contemnor”. After a 4-month trip through South America, she came home flat broke and took a position in a department of a trading company. For 9 years she successfully managed her tasks before she applied, initially without success, for an internal trading position. Trading was a male domain and there weren’t any places for women. Without hesitation, she looked for a new job, and with this backup solution in her hand, she went to her boss before the selection saying: “either I get this trader job or I’m off”. Her employer did not want to give up on her good and reliable services and gave her the opportunity. For the past 25 years, Isabelle successfully works at the same company and is still one of the few women who have prevailed in the men’s world of trading.
