Looks like Doug Coupland doesn’t know much about us girls.


Year after year, in the month of February, Lucerne’s streets, alleyways and the squares of the old town are swept away by the carnival and nothing remains a commonplace. Music, colorful masks, dangerous characters and mystical groups lead the squads, which seems to be incessantly meandering through the streets of “Switzerland’s most beautiful city”, bringing into light the admirable variety of craftwork and resourcefulness, as well as the creativity and innovativeness of its inhabitants. Together they drift away in the flood of colorful masks, costumes and music and they savor this festival until it finally comes to an end on Ash Wednesday, when Lucerne becomes imbued with melancholy.

The Advent season is here and it is cold outside and often gloomy. What could be more pleasant than decorating our home and relaxing in the warm candle light?

In Switzerland we celebrate the Advent with the traditional Advent wreath, lighting the four candles one after the other on each of the 4 Sundays before the Holy Night.
